Hiro Ama is a Japanese-born, London-based artist who has returned to drop his new single, ‘Forest Bathing’. It’s an ode to the Japanese practice of Shinrinyoku (the titular ‘Forest Bathing’) and, more broadly, the natural world. It’s a gentle electro-acoustic piece that layers experimental elements with its improvised jazz-flute melody, which is filled with perfectly placed chromaticism. He says: “I remember I’ve spent ages figuring out the melody that goes beyond the diatonic scale, and it’s one of my favourite melodies I’ve written so far.” Hiro Ama’s debut solo album, Music For Peace and Harmony, releases on October 4th, 2024. -Dan Peeke
